LTC Nathaniel Stickney
Commander, 2nd Multi-Domain Effects Battalion

Originally from Temple, Texas, Nathaniel Stickney graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2008 and commissioned as an Aviation Officer, receiving his rating as UH- 60A/L Blackhawk aviator in 2010. Assigned to the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade in Ansbach, Germany, he deployed to Joint Base Balad, Iraq with 3d Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment (Air Assault) as an aviation operations officer. Returning to Germany, he served one year as an Air Assault flight platoon leader before deploying to Herat, Afghanistan in 2012 as a liaison officer in Regional Command – West.

After returning from Afghanistan and Germany, LTC Stickney moved to the Republic of Korea, where he served in G33 Current Operations at Eighth Army before taking command of TANGO Security Force in 2014. After completing command in 2016, he attended Advanced Civil Schooling at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, before serving as an instructor and assistant professor in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at West Point. In 2021, he moved to Fort Eisenhower, Georgia and transitioned from Aviation to the Cyber branch, becoming the Team Lead for 155 Cyber Protection Team in 2022. In 2023, he became the S3 Operations Officer for 11th Cyber Battalion, and in 2024 he moved to Army Cyber Command Headquarters where he served as the G33 Current Operations Branch Chief before moving into his most recent position as the Deputy Director of the Commander’s Action Group (CAG).

LTC Stickney holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy and a Master of Science from Baylor University, both in Computer Science. His military qualifications include the Air Assault Badge and the Aviator’s Badge.

LTC Stickney is married to his West Point classmate Emma (née Free) of Medina, Ohio and they have three children: Jedidiah (10), Jotham (8), and Evangeline (5).
